The Creative Process

Creative Process - a series of steps repeated every time you design something. 

Why do we need a  creative process and why is it important?  

- it improves consistency 

- ability to plan and time your work

- raises the quality of your work

- communicate more effectively and in a more professional manner

Steps to the Creative Process:

1. Research

- more you know the easier the project will be

2. Brainstorm/Inspiration

- find a fresh and creative approach

- what kind of message are you communicating

- who is your audience

- what am i trying to tell them

- what kind of color/style will work for this style

3. Sketch

- thumbnails work to get your ideas out

4. Execute

- combine type and imagery into a well developed composition

- explore techniques and different possible options

5. Critique & Revise 

- take a step back and look at your design with an objective eye

- make sure your design communicates effectively

-if it doesn't look okay then go back and tweak and play with it

Photo Composistion

Snapshot - is a quick shot, often spontaneous, taken to record a moment in time.


Photograph - is a photo taken with care and thought.



Rules of thirds:

- Imaginary lines drawn dividing the frame of your camera into thirds, both horizontally and vertically.

- Place important subject, or important elements where those lines intersect. Place horizon line at the top or bottom of the horizontal divider.

- Fill up your entire frame with he subject for a close up image.


Leading Lines:

- Use the lines within the foreground or back ground or both to lead the viewers eyes through the photo.

-Use the lines to draw attention to the subject.



Point of View:

- Change the way your subject is perceived by changed the camera position.

- If you are photographing a subject that you want to seem very tall, compose the shot so that the camera is looking upwards.

- You can also look down on someone to make them seem small.




Simplicity:


- Keep your background simple and clear of clutter.

- The mood and effectiveness of the photo can be altered by what is in the back ground.

- A chaotic composition will cause the viewer to look away.

Semester Reflection

This semester i have learned so much! First i learned how to use Illustrator which was really fun because i learned how to make really interesting things out of different shapes and other stuff. I also learned how to blend and make new colors and different color schemes. I learned how people make ads and now when i look at different ads i know how they did it or what techniques they use which is really cool. Next we learned how to use photoshop which at first seemed really really hard but then i got the hang of it. I was so happy that i learned how to use photoshop because i always see my sister using it and its so cool. I learned how to Make collages and do a bunch of different stuff. Through doing my assignments and Mrs. Dayton's help i learned what looks good in pictures, what colors go together and things like that. There aren't really any techniques or projects that i want todo because i'm new to all these programs so i wouldn't know any i would want to learn. I really like the way this class works and what we do, doing assignments is my favorite thing because we just get to focus and really think about it so all i can say is more assignments but other than that i love this class and cant wait till next semester!!
