initial cap - larger decorative capital letters at the beginning of text or paragraph
thumbnail - a quick sketch to get thoughts out of your mind and onto paper
final product - the end result; how we ultimately communicate to our audience
concept - an idea; something formed in ones mind
kerning - adjusting the space in-between individual characters
tracking - allows you to adjust spacing between character spacing as a whole
margin - the white space around the edges of your document; keep all important stuff inside of the margins
alignment :
flush left - all text is aligned to the left
flush right - all text is aligned to the right
centered - text is centered in the middle; looks at the length of your line of type; is very formal
justified - all the lines are filled up from left to right.

non-lining - the height of all the letters do not add up and they are different heights.
leading - space in between lines of type
ligatures - something used for typing or binding something tight
ampersand - the & sign
small caps - small capitalization
lowercase - the smaller form of letter

typography - act of expressing ideas through selection of appropriate typefaces
typeface - distinctive designs of visual symbols that are used to compose a printed image/design
serif - smaller line used to finished off a main stroke of a letter usually at the top or bottom of a charachter

display type - type sizes above 12 point and used to draw attention to the message
reverse type - white type on a solid black or darker color background. if the text is too small reverse type can be diffiicult on the readers eye
point size - the size of the font
continuous tone - is one where each color at any point in the image is made as a single tone
image - a visual representation of something
resolution - term used to describe the number of dots or pixels used to display an image
file size - length of a file determined by bytes
hue - the acctual color
primary colors - red, blue, and yellow, the three main colors
secondary colors - colors made from all primary colors, these and primary colors can make tertiary colors. tertiary colors - colors made from primry and secondary ex: red-orange
neutral colors - Colors not usually on the color wheel, black grey white and brown
guidelines - something used in indesign to help show where your going
extensions - a part that has been added to something else
contextual menu - a menu that comes up usually in graphic design websites when you right click
clipping mask - a photo that you clip to be the size of your mask
icon - something used to represent another thing visually
vector -based graphics- shapes, lines, or another thing used to represent something visually
specs/specifications of a project - the main things needed to be done on a project or the main componets.
dialog box(within an application) - a box within the document used to communicate things through words or symbols.
palette (within an application) -
audience - the group of the people that are being targeted in your deisgn
message - what you are truing to say to the audiance through the visual
work ethic - havng good emplayability skills and interpersonal skills for your work place
employability skills - skills that will help you get employed and keep a job and get good job
